with Steve Stroope, Andy Wood, and Ed Stetzer

Date: July 16th        Time: 3:00pm EST (replay available!)
Topic: Permission Giving
Guests: Steve Stroope, Andy Wood, and host Ed Stetzer

Special Guest: Steve is Senior Pastor of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas. He was called to pastor Lake Pointe shortly after its founding. Church attendance under his leadership has grown from 53 at its inception to over 15,000 today. In addition, Lake Pointe has planted 25 strategic churches in spiritually under-resourced cities like Boston, Montreal, New York, Portland, San Francisco, etc., that have a combined average weekly attendance that exceeds that of Lake Pointe. Steve provides direct coaching to these church planters and pioneer missionaries in countries around the world.

Steve’s spiritual gifts are evangelism, leadership, and teaching. He has a passion for seeing that the Gospel is presented to unchurched people in a culturally relevant style, without compromising its truth. He also believes that one of the keys to an effective church is keeping a balance between evangelism and discipleship. Because of this, he’s a strong supporter of the small group ministry at Lake Pointe.

Special Guest: Andy Wood is the Lead Pastor of Echo.Church. Andy and his wife Stacie started South Bay Church in 2009 with two other families. South Bay Church officially changed their name to Echo.Church in January of 2018. Echo.Church has become one of the fastest growing churches in the most unchurched area of the United States and is now reaching over 2,300 people in regular attendance in three locations across Silicon Valley.

Andy’s passion is to create environments that engage the unchurched people of the Bay Area. Along with leading the church, Andy enjoys investing time in helping church planters and church leaders think more innovatively and strategically to reach people in the most unreached areas of North America. To help with this he founded an organization called Frontline Coaching.

Host: Ed Stetzer, Ph.D., holds the Billy Graham Chair of Church, Mission, and Evangelism at Wheaton College and serves as Executive Director of the Billy Graham Center. Ed is a contributing editor for Christianity Today, a columnist for Outreach Magazine, and is frequently cited or interviewed in news outlets such as USAToday and CNN. He is the Executive Editor of The Gospel Project, a curriculum used by more than one million individuals each week. Ed also serves as Executive Editor of Facts & Trends Magazine, a Christian leadership magazine with a circulation of more than 70,000 readers and is the co-host of the BreakPoint This Week radio program with John Stonestreet. Ed has planted, revitalized, and pastored churches, trained pastors and church planters on six continents, holds two masters degrees and two doctorates, and has written dozens of articles and books. He is the interim pastor of Moody Church in Chicago.

Webinar Topic

Permission Giving

Hero Maker is the theme for Exponential 2018. It is based on Five Essential Practices for Leaders to Multiply Leaders from the book Hero Maker by Dave Ferguson and Warren Bird. These five essential practices include multiplication thinking, permission giving, disciple multiplying, gift activating, and Kingdom Building (the topic of this webinar). Most leaders measure success by what they accumulate, build and leave behind here on earth.  They see themselves as the hero at the center of their own story.  Hero-makers focus on who they catapult forward beyond themselves to have an eternal impact in God’s unfolding story.

This webinar is on Permission Giving, the second practice in moving from hero to hero maker. You begin to take the focus off your leadership and begin to see all the leadership potential God has put around you. I see what God can do through my own leadership shifts to I see what God can do through others, and I let them know what I see in them. It’s a shift in seeing: “I see this gift in you,” and “I see God at work in you when you . . .” Ultimately, Jesus gives us permission, saying, “My Spirit is going to come, and you’re going to be My witnesses to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Essentially, He says to us, “I see in you the potential for leading a movement that will bring My people to me both on earth and in paradise.”

Join Ed Stetzer, Steve Stroope, and Andy Wood as they discuss Permission Giving and measuring personal success!
