Join Like-Minded Leaders

The network leader’s gathering is a great opportunity for organizations to think more innovatively about church planting. North America is changing so quickly and the network leader must keep up in order to plant the right kinds of churches in the right kinds of ways. That’s what we champion at the Send Institute, and that’s what Exponential is doing with this gathering.

Daniel Yang, Director of the Send Institute

Subject Material Facilitators

Speakers

Brett Andrews

Brett Andrews

Brett is the founding pastor of New Life Christian Church in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. Since launching in 1993 New Life has grown to be multi-site and has directly planted over 135 churches. They've also built a national church planting ministry Passion for Planting that has impacted countless other church plants by providing free resources, project management, and by shaping Exponential into what it is today.

Linda Bergquist

Linda Bergquist

Linda is a church planting catalyst for the North American Mission Board and the California Southern Baptist Convention. She works with English speaking multi-ethnic churches as well as Chinese, South Asian and Middle Eastern groups in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Linda also teaches church planting, urban immersion, and cross cultural ministry classes as an adjunct at Gateway Seminary in Fremont, CA.

Bill Couchenour

He also provides strategic and operational oversight of Exponential's R&D and expanding educational opportunities. Steve Pike

Steve Pike

Steve Pike is the President and Founder of Urban Islands Project, a national catalytic organization dedicated to increasing the presence of the Church in the urban core of America's 40 largest urban centers. Prior to initiating Urban Islands Project, Steve served as the Founding Director of the Church Multiplication Network. CMN serves church multipliers to effectively equip, strategically fund and innovatively network new faith communities in America.

Gary Rohrmayer

Gary Rohrmayer

Gary has served on every level of church planting from a church-planting intern, pioneer church planter to a national director of church planting. After pioneering a church plant with his wife Mary, he assisted in planting 17 churches in 10 years in southeastern Wisconsin. In 1998 Gary was asked to bring a new sense of energy and vision to a regional network within Converge that was in decline for 10 years. In the last 17 years Converge MidAmerica has grown from 86 churches to over 225. This new movement of churches has revolutionized this 165-year-old organization on all levels.

Steve Stroope

Steve Stroope

Steve is Senior Pastor of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas. He was called to pastor Lake Pointe shortly after its founding. Church attendance under his leadership has grown from 53 at its inception to over 15,000 today. In addition, Lake Pointe has planted 25 strategic churches in spiritually under-resourced cities like Boston, Montreal, New York, Portland, San Francisco, etc., that have a combined average weekly attendance that exceeds that of Lake Pointe.

Daniel Yang

Daniel Yang

Daniel is the Director of the Send Institute, leading and overseeing all of its initiatives. Prior to directing the institute, he planted a church in Toronto where he also helped recruit, assess, and train church planters through the Send Network and the Release Initiative. Daniel has served on various church staffs including Northwood Church, led by Bob Roberts Jr., where he was trained as a church planter and was involved in global and multi-faith engagement. Prior to church planting, Daniel was an engineer for eight years.

The Mission

Connecting Like-Minded Leaders

“Denominational and Network leaders are the unsung leaders behind the story of many successful church planters. The Special Gathering for Network Leaders provides a place for these rare but crucial organizational church planting leaders to connect, cross-pollinate, become better informed regarding organizational system best practices and catch a glimpse of “where the puck is going to be.”

Steve Pike, Director of the Urban Islands Project
